How to look after your treadmill and precautions needed when owning Nordic Track and Proform equipment.

Keep your treadmill indoors, away from moisture and dust. Do not put in a garage or covered patio, or near water. Your machine is intended for home use only and must not be used in any commercial, rental, or institutional setting. This will invalidate your warranty.

The treadmill is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the treadmill by someone responsible for their safety.

Place the treadmill on a level surface, with at least 8 ft. (2.4 m) of clearance behind it and 2 ft. (0.6 m) on each side. Do not place the treadmill on any surface that blocks air openings.

To protect the floor or carpet, place a suitable mat under the machine and keep the out of direct sunlight, to avoid damage to the console.

Do not operate the treadmill where aerosol products are used or where oxygen is being administered.

Keep children under age 16 and pets away from the treadmill at all times for their own safety and never allow more than one person on the treadmill at a time. Also keep fingers, hair, and clothing away from the moving walking belt.

Keep to the maximum user weight as per the manufacturers guidence. This will be shown on all product listings on our website.

Wear appropriate exercise clothes while using the treadmill. Do not wear loose clothes that could become caught on the treadmill. Athletic support clothes are recommended and always wear athletic shoes. Never use with bare feet, wearing only stockings, or in sandals.

Inspect and properly tighten all parts regularly. Replace any worn parts immediately with only manufacturers parts.

When connecting the power cord, plug into an earthed circuit. No other appliance should be on the same circuit. When replacing the fuse in the power cord insert an ASTA-approved BS1362, 13-amp fuse into the fuse carrier.

The treadmill should be plugged directly into the mains power, however, if an extension cord is unavoidable, use only a 3-conductor, 14-gauge (2 mm2) cord that is no longer than 5 ft. (1.5 m).

Always unplug the power cord when the treadmill is not in use, before cleaning and before performing any maintenance and adjustment procedures described in the user manual. If you do not do this, the electrical components of the machine may wear prematurely.

Never move the walking belt while the power is turned off. Do not operate the treadmill if the power cord or plug is damaged, or if the treadmill is not working properly. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced with a manufacturer-recommended power cord. Keep the power cord away from heated surfaces.

Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running. Always remove the safety key and unplug the power cord when the treadmill is not in use.

The treadmill is capable of high speeds. Adjust the speed in small increments to avoid sudden jumps in speed. Also, do not change the incline of the treadmill by placing objects under the treadmill.

When folding or moving the treadmill, make sure that the storage latch is holding the frame securely in the storage position. To avoid damaging the treadmill, adjust the incline to zero before you fold the treadmill. Do not operate the treadmill while it is folded. Always tip back, do not pull on the frame, and do not move the treadmill over an uneven surface. You must be able to safely lift 45lbs. (20 kg) to move the treadmill.

Always stand on the foot rails when starting or stopping the walking belt. Always hold the handrails while using the treadmill. The noise will increase when someone is walking on the treadmill.

Make sure that the impact cushions on the left and right sides of the treadmill are set to the same firmness level. The faster you run on the treadmill, or the more you weigh, the firmer the walking platform should be.

If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room temperature before you turn on the power. If you do not do this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components.

In an emergency, the key can be pulled from the console, causing the walking belt to slow to a stop. Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward; if the key is not pulled from the console, adjust the position of the clip.

Regularly check the alignment of the walking belt, and centre the walking belt if necessary. You will need to use the Allen key supplied and follow the instructions at the back of the user manual

If the walking belt is moving at a high speed and you adjust the incline below 0%, the speed of the walking belt may automatically decrease.

For the best results, regularly check for firmware updates. To avoid damaging the console, do not turn off or unplug the treadmill while the firmware is being updated. Occasionally, a firmware update may cause the console to function slightly differently however, these are always designed to improve your exercise experience.

Regularly clean the treadmill by using with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Do not spray liquids directly onto the machine and keep liquids away from the console. Thoroughly dry with a soft towel.

You must have your own wireless network and an 802.11b/g/n router with SSID broadcast enabled (hidden networks are not supported). The console supports unsecured and secured (WEP, WPA™, and WPA2™) encryption. A broadband connection is recommended; performance depends on connection speed. iFit Live is not compatible with Virgin Media except through Hub 3 Routers

A wearable rate monitor will enable you to continuously monitor your heart rate while you exercise, helping you to reach your personal fitness goals. Where stated in the product listing if a BlueTooth strap is compatible, the console will be compatible with all Bluetooth Smart heart rate monitors.

Occasionally, the console may not boot up properly, or if the console freezes and does not respond, reset the console to the factory default settings as shown in the user manual. Doing this will erase all the custom settings you have made to the console.

If the incline of the treadmill does not change correctly you will need to calibrate the incline system. Instructions on how to do this are in the user manual.

Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform unless instructed to do so by an authorised service representative. Such substances may deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.

Follow regular maintenance of the treadmill. There will be a ‘Maintenance and Troubleshooting’ section towards the back of the manufacturers user manual.
